WELCOME TO THE BRANDEIS MEN'S GROUP
The Brandeis Men's Group (BMG) is a Los Angeles social group chartered under the Brandeis National Committee - Los Angeles Chapter (BNCLA).

The mission of the Men's Group is to raise awareness and support for Brandeis University by fundraising for scholarships and research in the fields of aging and other scientific endeavors. The group also exists to help men move from the workplace into a social and intellectual society through new friendships, fellowship, interest groups, and social justice awareness.

Members of the Brandeis Men's Group, Los Angeles, come from all walks of life. Among its members are lawyers, educators, judges, businessmen, doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs.

Historically, and for more than a decade, on the third Wednesday of every month this group of senior men and invited speakers have met for a breakfast of lox and bagels at the Veterans Memorial Center in Culver City. Always, the members come together both for social and cultural reasons, and also to help raise funds for research scholarships at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

During the current restrictive period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the BMG understandably has not been able to congregate as in the past but this limitation has not deterred us. By utilizing social programs such as Zoom, we continue to regularly meet and listen to invited speakers, or to engage in various Special Interest Groups (aka, SIGs.)

Guest speakers in the past have included such notables as Mayor Eric Garcetti, TV weatherman Fritz Coleman, journalist Bill Boyarsky, and actor Ed Asner to only name a few. BMG members also participate in SIGs that include chess, legal opinions, opera study, current events, bridge, history, a walking group, etc. Weather and the pandemic permitting, they also organize visits to interesting destinations in the greater Los Angeles area. Some of these excursions have been to see movie memorabilia at the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts, watching print making at the Gemini GEL print workshop, tour of the Nethercutt Automotive Museum (led by a BMG docent), a behind-the-scene visit to Dodger Stadium (which included sitting in Vince Scully's broadcast box), and Will Rogers State Park.

So, while it may be challenging, who says retirement can't be fun?
